14. Mai 2025 Planet Africa to Launch in Munich
Next up for the Planet Africa exhibition is the Bavarian State Archaeological Collection in Munich, Germany. The exhibition will be officially opened on May 15, 2025 and will be open to visitors from May 16 to September 28, 2025.
Since a delivery of the exhibition material from the James-Simon-Galerie on Berlin's Museum Island, the exhibition team at the Archaeological State Collection has been working diligently to recreate Planet Africa at its second tour location. "With joined hands, we are now setting up in the shortest possible time so that museum visitors can find their way to us from next Friday! The euphoria has already spread to the team!", we hear from our colleagues on site.
The launch will be officiated by Prince Ludwig of Bavaria with musical accompaniment by Band Osumare. PD Dr. Jörg Linstädter (DAI-KAAK) and Prof. Dr. Gerd-Christian Weniger (University of Cologne, Museum-Consult) will represent the exhibition’s curator and creator team.
Planet Africa is currently staged in Nairobi (Kenya) until 31st May 2025 in Accra (Ghana) since 27th March 2025 and in Lobamba (Eswatini) since 3rd April 2025. The exhibition is yet to be opened in Maputo (Mozambique) later this year.
